Nerdcore, because I know most people have never heard of it, is a type of hip hop. It all began with MC Frontalot, the godfather of Nerdcore hip hop. Essentially, it's nerdy guys, making nerdy music which is impressively good for ex-web designers, rapping about nerdy topics. Like with any form of music, I can't do it justice in words, you'll just have to experience for yourself.
I believe that Nerdcore could rise up, it could get elevated, become mainstream. I honestly feel that with the growing popularity of the Lonely Island, Nerdcore would do very well if given the proper exposure. Nerdcore isn't meant to be a joke. It's humorous, but not just straight up comedy. If I had to put it in words, which I do seeing as this a blog and even if it were a vlog I'd still being speaking with words, maybe a series of grunts, I would say this: Nerdcore is a musical form of social commentary on technology and the "nerd culture." MC Fronatlot, for example, raps about hating other people's blogs, internet porn, card games, text based videogames, Star Wars, Joss Wheaon, Will Wheaton, Chrales Darwinm and how few people actually know what Nerdcore is.
It's slowly becoming cooler to be a nerd, at least more acceptable, with the advances in technology and society. Nerds are a necessary commodity. We need nerds. I proudly declare that I am a nerd. We run the world.
MC Frontalot is an ex-web designer who is now a touring rapper. He wears his signature big, fake glasses, a light strapped to his head, slightly cooler than it sounds, and short sleeved shirt with a tie. He kind of looks like a skinnier, bald version of Dwight K. Schrute from The Office. He has a documentary, Nerdcore Rising, following his first tour which took place in 2006, spanning from New York, down the East coast, over to the Big Easy, up to Michigan, and wrapping up at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle. The documentary is extremely well made and reveals a burgeoning genre of music while taking a look at the typical "nerd." For example, the classic Wookie sound can be heard several times throughout the film.
There are more rappers out there than the Front. MC Chris, MC Beefy, MC Hawking (exactly what you're thinking), Optimus Rhyme, and Schaffer the Darklord are just a few names out there. MC Squared is a beat boxer who did extremely at Showtime at the Apollo and was very warmly greeted.
In the nerdiest, and easiest, fashion I could possibly think of, I'm going to use this blog to make an announcement: I am going to be bringing my own brand of Nerdcore to Bridgewater State University in the 2011-2012 school year. Look forward to it.
Here are some links! Check 'em out. Trust me, it's worth the effort to click on these. Seeing as you're probably reading this BLOG for ONLINE SUMMER CLASS at BSU, you'll probably enjoy this. Welcome to the Nerdcore.

MC Frontalot was at the most recent Anime Boston I went to. I was interested in checking out the performance, but between the hustle and bustle of that weekend, I totally forgot.

But it's a refreshing take on the hip hop genre, from a refreshing standpoint. Hip hop doesn't have to be all about the guns an hos- I think people should embrace their inner nerd and check out the first link, at least!
I heard that Front was there after the fact. I wish I had gone just to see the show. Maybe I'll catch it next year. "Hip hop doesn't have to be all about the guns an hos" has to be my favorite quote of the year. I tried to make a nerdcore music video for cmf this year and failed terribly.
